Our W Sauce® is a proud heir to a family recipe that has stood the test of time. Passed down through the generations of Burton’s family, it became a winter tradition, gracing every season with its unmistakable flavor.
Growing up in St. Petersburg, Florida, Burton fondly remembers his parents, Suzie and George, pulling out the giant pot each year. They’d fill it with gallons of vinegar, bags of onions, fresh tomatoes, and a blend of exotic spices from all over the world.
After days of careful preparation and allowing the unique flavors to meld together, Suzie and George would have a fresh batch of homemade Worcestershire sauce, ready to share with family and friends.
Burton Meets a Bear.
Fast forward to 2020, and Burton is all grown up, living in Key West and working in the fishing industry. It’s here he becomes friends with the legendary charter captain, Bear Holeman. If you’ve spent any time in America’s Southernmost Point, you know Bear is a larger-than-life figure, both on and off the water.
One evening during lockdown, Burton brought a bottle of his family’s secret sauce to Bear and his wife, Jenn’s house. To say they loved it would be an understatement. The very next day, Bear called Burton with an excited message: “Yo, let’s bottle this secret sauce of yours!”
With the world at a standstill due to Covid, Burton figured if Bear and Jenn were crazy about the sauce, others might be too. But first, he had to convince his mom to let him share their family recipe.
A Family Recipe Comes to Life.
At first, Suzie was hesitant to share the family recipe—it was a well-guarded secret, after all! So, Burton decided to bring in the big guns. He flew Bear (because, well, who can resist Bear?) all the way from The Keys to St. Pete to charm her into handing over the goods. It only took Bear about three minutes to work his magic and get the recipe!
But that was just the beginning. Bringing this sauce to life wasn’t an easy task. The original family recipe had been passed down and modified over the years, with each generation adding their own twist to the classic. But Suzie and George knew a few key secrets that weren’t written down. Little things, like halving the anchovies or stirring every half hour on the dot. As Suzie always says, “God is in the details.”
With Suzie and George’s guidance to perfect the recipe (thanks, Mom and Dad!), Bear and Burton finally succeeded in making the secret sauce taste exactly like the one Burton grew up with.

Fast forward to today, and W Sauce® is officially mom and dad approved. People and restaurants everywhere are embracing a sauce that brings all the traditional Worcestershire flavor with more—bigger, better, and bolder than the classic version.
Since perfecting our W Sauce®, we've expanded America's Sauce Family to include Breakfast Sauce® and The Mary Mix®. You can now find our products on Duval Street in Key West, featured by your favorite pitmasters on social media, or stocked at your local grocery store.
